Meeting Time: 8:00am Saturday and 9:00am Sunday
Lodging Details: Camping! This will be SIRA's
first official Camp out of 2008! Come make it a
blast. SIRA Campouts are like no other.
Camping at Rausch Creek Offroad Park. Camping is
primitive. So bring everything you will need for 2
days. They have Port o Johns for facilities, but
no running water. Please bring at least 2 gallons
of water / person.
UPDATED CAMPING INFORMATION: From Lynn:
All camping is to the right of the driveway. Truck
and trailers can park out away from the tent
sites. The camping rules are posted at several of
the sites, as well as near the porta potties.
Basically, clean up your site when you are done.
If you end up alongside the coal road to camp, do
not drive past the logs that are set out, those
are to segregate the tent area from the road, it's
a filled-in stripping pit, it's not meant for the
weight of vehicles. Use the designated
firerings.
Also, you're allowed on the property the evening
before for camping only, not to go driving around
to search for firewood, not even to drive around
the comp course.
Saturday morning you can all come up to the office
starting at 8 a.m. to get checked-in to go
wheeling.
Note from SIRA: If you leave the campsite dirtier
than you found it, you will not be welcome on
future SIRA runs or this website. They have a
problem lately with messy clubs leaving a mess and
disturbing other groups at night. We are better
than that. RESPECT other groups and RESPECT the
quiet hours (After 11pm).
Saturday Night Dinner: Jamie and Tom are planning
a great SIRA cookout for us. They need us to get a
final head count to lay out costs and plan on
food. You need to be RSVP'd 'YES' by 4/16.

This year's Annual OHV Extravaganza will be held
at Rausch Creek off Road Park. It is devoted to
providing a fun legal place for 4x4 off road clubs
and organizations to go "wheeling." The park
consists of 1,700 acres of easy, intermediate, and
hard trails. There is something for everyone.
For the beginner, we offer the chance for you to
get a feel for the capabilities of your vehicle,
intermediate wheelers will have the opportunity to
expand their abilities and push their vehicles to
the next level. For the more advanced a chance to
put your skills and vehicle to the ultimate test.

UFWDA will be sponsoring a Preservation Trail Ride
in Crozet, Virginia on Saturday, September 6, 2008
from 10am-6pm. The objective of this ride is for
drivers and/or riders to collect sponsorship
donations in order for UFWDA to protect, promote
and provide 4x4 access worldwide. This exciting
rock crawl off road adventure features trails
ranging from difficult to very difficult. You must
register in order to participate and space is
available for only 70 rigs, so sign up now.
Registration is $50.00 for driver only. Passengers
ride for free. You must also collect a minimum of
$100.00 in sponsorship in order to wheel. Money
and sponsorship sheets must be turned in the day
of the trail ride.
The Preservation Trail Ride ad, information,
sponsor sheet, online registration and minimum rig
requirements are all posted on UFWDA's website at
www.ufwda.org.

Description: Set in beautiful Hollister Hills State Vehicular
Recreational Area, this course is primarily
tailored to introduce those with
little- or no-experience to off-road driving
safety and trip planning. Those with more
experience will come away with the knowledge that
there is more to four wheeling than simply
shifting into 4WD. Students will get a better feel
for what they and their vehicle are capable of
while driving in the various types of terrain
found in our forests and wild lands. Our Hands-On
Safety Clinic consists of: classroom instruction,
two guided trail tours, and one-on-one guidance
through several exercises. Virtually all four
wheel drive vehicles (trucks and sport utility
vehicles) and all levels of driver-skill are
welcome (and have been through our clinic).
Students must provide their own lunch but on
Saturday, for a reasonable price, students will
have the opportunity to enjoy a BBQ dinner and
talk with the
instructors and club members after Saturday’s
class.
